The big party

It was a lot more work than I thought it would be, but I think Jordan's first birthday party was a success. We had a ton of people there, and I didn't get more than 2 minutes to speak to anyone once the party started. Dave and I got to the party site shortly after 11 am and started loading everything in and rearranging tables. Thankfully my dad showed up to help and then Kim and Sophie were kind enough to bring the cakes and assist in decorating, as well. I had tons of help, but we barely got it done in time. I was thrilled with the way everything turned out though. Jordan was in a good mood during most of the party, and all of the kids seemed to play well together. This is the first of what will be several birthday related posts.

First a picture of the cake table decorated with pics of Jordan. A friend's wife did both cakes, and I was sooooo impressed with the look and the taste. The pictures were from our ill-fated trip to the Picture People.

A closer picture of the amazing cake. What you can't see well here is that behind Winnie the Pooh there is a sign that says "Happy 1st Birthday Jordan".

The "spread" in front of the room wrap and scene setter. Thanks Kim for the idea of the room wrap- it made the room!
Of course, you can't have a birthday party without the birthday girl. This was early on when she was still checking out all of the other kids and all of the chaos. Holding onto Nana's hand made it a little easier.
And last but not least for today is Jordan checking out her "smash" cake. She basically flicked some of the icing and that was it. She didn't tear it apart or eat a single bite. I tried putting icing on a spoon to get her to eat it, but she was not interested. She had the cutest little birthday hat, but it only stayed on for .2 seconds before she ripped it off. Oh, well.
Thanks to all who came to the party. For those invited that could not make it, we missed you but know you were thinking about Jordan on her birthday and/or the day of her party.

Looks like fun!!! I am sure you are exhausted, but the place looked great and sounds like you had a good party. Sorry Jordan did not get messy with her cake for you. It reminds me of my brother Ashby at his first birthday. He had a bear cake with a decorated cake bear that stood about 8 inches tall. He cried and screamed and would not touch it. I guess it is just hard to predict what they will do.

The party was a lot of fun and very nicely done! Jackson really enjoyed attending his first birthday party- even if he slept through the whole thing!

Hope Jordan had a good time- she looked like she did!
